The rectangular frame is finished in a deep dark brown lacquer and contrasted by a narrow silvered inner molding surrounding the mirror plate. The restrained architectural profile and subtle contrast between the dark outer frame and aged silvered detail give the piece a particularly refined appearance. The original mirror glass has been preserved and displays the characteristic light foxing, oxidation and small imperfections developed over more than 150 years. These traces of age lend the mirror an attractive authentic character without compromising its functionality. The lacquered and silvered surfaces of the frame likewise retain signs of age and use, contributing to the overall patina of the piece. with its tall, slender proportions and understated decoration, the mirror works equally well in a classical interior or as an antique accent within a contemporary setting.
