The warm golden-brown surface is framed by glossy black lacquered details and finished with small spherical brass handles.

The cabinet’s most fascinating feature is its unusual veneer. Reconstituted burl is made from natural wood veneers that are dyed, layered, bonded and compressed into a new block. This block is then sliced again into exceptionally thin sheets, revealing an entirely new grain created by the arrangement of its many individual layers.

The result is a surface with remarkable visual depth and an intricate, almost topographical character. Dense clusters of small eyes, concentric contours and flowing lines create a pattern that appears to shift across the curved body of the cabinet. Although carefully engineered, the veneer retains the warmth, texture and subtle variations of real wood. Its controlled construction also allows the elaborate figure to continue more consistently across a large surface than would normally be possible with a rare natural burl.

This sophisticated technique was particularly suited to the experimental spirit of late-20th-century Italian furniture design, when traditional cabinetmaking materials were frequently reinterpreted through innovative industrial processes.

The cabinet features an upper drawer and an enclosed storage compartment below. Its compact proportions and rounded silhouette make it suitable as an occasional cabinet, living-room storage piece, statement bedside cabinet or cocktail cabinet.
