The silhouette is timeless yet remarkably fresh. A high, serpentine camelback rises above generously rolled panel arms, while a single full-length bench cushion creates an uninterrupted sweep across the seat. A precisely fitted skirt falls neatly beneath the frame, giving the sofa a polished, fully dressed presence from every angle.

The upholstery is what makes this example exceptional. Woven in a sophisticated palette of warm ivory, navy, French blue, camel and taupe, the stripe reveals remarkable texture at close range. Raised ivory yarns articulate the pattern, creating a subtle corded relief that catches the light and gives the fabric genuine depth. It is not a conventional flat or printed ticking stripe, but a substantial, tactile upholstery weave with an elevated decorator-quality appearance.

Every detail demonstrates the skill involved in its construction. The stripes align beautifully across the curved back, rolled arms, long bench cushion, front rail and tailored skirt. Even the self-welting was cut to continue the pattern. The original factory label’s “Team Match” notation confirms that the upholstery was intentionally cut, matched and applied as a coordinated treatment.

Factory documentation identifies the sofa as Ethan Allen model 20-7181-6, a 2012 custom-order version of the company’s documented American Manor camelback design. It was handcrafted by Ethan Allen upholstery artisans and assembled in North Carolina. The original signed artisan card, factory labels and matching upholstery swatch remain attached beneath the sofa—an unusually complete record of its custom manufacture.

Equally remarkable is its preservation. The sofa was placed in a formal sitting room and was rarely used or sat upon. The upholstery remains exceptionally clean and fresh, the camelback retains its crisp sculptural line, and the full-length cushion remains supportive and beautifully shaped.

Acquired directly from the original-owner estate in Great Falls, Virginia, along the Potomac River, where it had been maintained in a formal sitting room and rarely used. Its clear, single-owner history and exceptionally limited use account for its remarkable state of preservation. See less
