Impressive 19th-century Victorian mahogany bookcase and display cabinet featuring carved lion-head supports, sliding glass doors, carved paw feet, and two lower drawers.
The cabinet has a substantial molded cornice with decorative beaded detailing above a pair of horizontally sliding glazed doors. Particularly striking are the deeply carved lion heads and elongated carved supports flanking the glass doors, terminating visually above the carved paw feet.
The interior is fitted with five shelves, providing generous display space for books, collectibles, porcelain, glassware, or decorative objects. The sliding-door design allows access without requiring clearance for swinging doors.
Two lower drawers provide additional storage and feature dovetailed construction with ornate brass hardware. Beautiful deep reddish-brown mahogany throughout, with substantial period construction and excellent architectural presence.
Dimensions: approximately 43 3/4” W × 17 1/2” D × 54” H. Interior shelf area approximately 39 3/4” wide. Five shelves.
Condition: Good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use, including surface scratches, finish wear, marks and small losses. Wear and losses are visible around portions of the feet/base. Please review photographs closely for details of condition.
