Dating strictly to the Art Nouveau/Early Art Deco period, this exhibition-grade casting features complete, documented foundry provenance and weighs a substantial 50+ lbs.

Cartier masterfully captures the raw, kinetic power of the king of beasts mid-stride. The lion balances on a naturalistic, rugged rocky outcrop, its musculature taut and its jaws opened wide in a dramatic, silent roar. The casting is beautifully detailed, emphasizing the deep, stylized texture of the heavy, flowing mane, sharp claws, and expressive face.

The sculpture features a magnificent, authentic antique patinated bronze finish. The primary tone is a rich, chocolatey deep brown. Warm golden-brown and amber undertones naturally accent the sculpture's high points—such as the defined ridges of the muscles, the crest of the spine, and the tips of the flowing mane.
