The long, architectural form features four paneled doors framed by fluted pilasters, molded detailing, a substantial molded top, and a stepped plinth base.

The distressed surface reveals layers of earlier paint and traces of the wood beneath, giving the piece the wonderfully imperfect patina that makes old painted French furniture so appealing. Simple brass knobs provide a warm contrast to the cool painted finish. The four doors open to generous shelved storage, making this an exceptionally functional piece for a dining room, living room, or large entry.

Its restrained classical detailing and strong proportions give it a distinctly French neoclassical feel, while the heavily aged painted surface keeps it relaxed rather than formal. Particularly striking as a long console or buffet beneath a large painting or mirror. See less
