Vintage linen tablecloth with hand-crocheted filet lace border spelling out the Selkirk Grace (attributed to Robert Burns and traditionally recited before meals) and 9 matching napkins with a different crocheted Scottish salutations. Rare as a complete matched set.
Each corner of the tablecloth is worked with a thistle in a filet technique and finished with a delicate crochet picot edge all around. One corner of each napkin is worked in the same filet technique and let into the linen with a delicate crochet picot edge.
Tablecloth is 42" square and reads:
"Some hae meat but canny eat, and some wad eat that want it. But we hae meat and we can eat, so let the Lord be thankit"
Napkins are 14" square and read:
For auld lang syne (2)
A' gude attend you (2)
I wiss you weel (2)
Joy be wi' thee (1)
