From the living estate of prominent brutalist Arizona sculpture artist John Gleason, illuminate your library, office, or holiday mantle with this rare, mid-century Beswick Ware novelty character lamp. Masterfully crafted in Staffordshire, England, this piece features Model No. 372, depicting Ebenezer Scrooge from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
Unlike a standard Toby jug, this factory-produced novelty lamp is designed as an ambient accent or uplight. The interior is engineered to house a small standard bulb (LED bulb highly recommended to maintain a cool temperature), which casts a beautiful, atmospheric glow upward from the opening of Scrooge's nightcap.
The finely glazed earthenware bust features Scrooge’s iconic cantankerous expression, set on a warm brass collar and permanently mounted to a heavy, turned hardwood pedestal base.
