A striking sculptural object by Morin Choinière of Montréal, combining a substantial dark-finished wood form with two thick clear glass elements.
The piece is built around a bold triangular, architectural silhouette, with two rectangular glass fins inserted vertically into precisely cut openings along the upper edge. The transparency and clean geometry of the glass create a compelling contrast with the dark, richly textured wood.
Minimal yet highly sculptural, the work has a strong Modernist and Brutalist sensibility. The geometric construction and juxtaposition of natural wood with glass give the piece an architectural quality, while variations in the wood surface add warmth and character.
An unusual example of Canadian studio design that works particularly well as a standalone sculpture or decorative object.
