Emperor Caracalla (188–217 AD) from the Farnese Collection (now housed at the Archaeological Museum of Naples) has a realistic appearance and even manages to convey what his character must have been like. Famous for having approved the edict that bears his name—by which he granted Roman citizenship to all inhabitants of the Empire—he is depicted facing left with a furrowed brow and a pensive expression. Even in the details, the majesty of this bust is evident; the rendering of the beard and hair creates tonal effects that contribute to the portrait’s power. The sculpture is handcrafted in Italy at our workshop by master artisans. See less
