The pheasant features a brilliant orange-red head and neck accented with yellow feathering, transitioning into a clear glass body filled with suspended multicolored glass inclusions. Particularly beautiful is the glasswork throughout the head: the transparent red of the individually formed beak and feathers gradually develops into a rich, opaque red through the head and neck, showcasing the skill of the glassmaker.

The exceptionally long tail rises elegantly from the body, incorporating flashes of red, orange, yellow, blue and green within the clear glass. The twisted pedestal base gives the sculpture additional movement while allowing light to travel beautifully through the piece.

A highly decorative example of postwar Murano glassmaking with wonderful color, scale and sculptural presence. Excellent displayed alone or within a collection of Murano, Venetian and mid-century Italian art glass.
