Painted on woven canvas, the work depicts an elaborately dressed winged angel holding a long firearm, rendered against a dark ground with rich red, ochre, green and extensive gold-toned ornamentation. The exposed woven canvas and irregular hand-finished edges give the work particularly appealing age and character.

The painting is unframed and measures approximately 15" W × 19.5" H. It presents well with attractive surface patina, wear and irregularities consistent with age and the nature of the material.

The work appears to have considerable age and is stylistically consistent with Peruvian Spanish Colonial/Cuzco School imagery; however, its precise date and attribution have not been independently authenticated. Offered as found. See less
