Their beautifully minimal … Read more Rare pair of vintage Gainey Ceramics AC-8 architectural planters, produced in California during the Mid-Century Modern era. Their beautifully minimal cylindrical form is finished in a striking burnt orange glaze with a fine brown-black speckled grain throughout.

The rich orange coloration is particularly eye-catching and gives the pair a distinctly warm California Modern character. Gainey’s clean architectural forms became synonymous with modernist interiors and landscaping during the mid-20th century; the company’s iconic cylinder planters were designed by Steve Gainey during the 1960s.

Excellent as indoor planters, cachepots, or sculptural ceramic objects. Their restrained form works beautifully alongside period designs by Architectural Pottery and other California Modern makers.
