A beautiful 19th century French trumeau mirror featuring a wonderfully timeworn painted finish with gilt and carved decoration. The tall rectangular frame is surmounted by a decorative paneled section with applied ropework surrounding an elegant cartouche form and an ornate central floral and foliate motif.
The mirror plate is framed with delicate gilt ornamentation, including floral details at the corners. Layers of softly aged ivory paint, warm gilding, and subtle traces of color give the piece the particularly appealing patina associated with antique French interiors.
The reverse retains its substantial wood plank construction, further reflecting the mirror’s age and traditional craftsmanship.
