Dynamic, original, mid-century expressionist painting on paper depicting Brooklyn’s iconic Coney Island amusement park. The expressive brushwork and bold black structural outlines evoke classic mid-century Modernist and Fauvist graphic aesthetics combined with a vibrant, high-contrast palette of electric yellow, bright orange, crimson, and cobalt blue against a dramatic dark background. The composition showcases the famous Deno's Wonder Wheel (Ferris wheel) alongside stylized roller coaster or boardwalk game structures over dark blue water. Rendered in an Expressionist style with Fauvist color handling, evoking the boardwalk and amusement park scenes popularized by Reginald Marsh, with bold black outline work recalling Georges Rouault and a buoyant, high-key palette reminiscent of Raoul Dufy's festive seaside and public-leisure scenes. Unsigned; artist unidentified. Circa 1950s–1960s. A lively, nostalgic amusement-park scene suited to a collector of Coney Island memorabilia, NYC history, or mid-century carnival/boardwalk art. Executed on paper, unframed, measuring 15.25" x 12".
Authentic vintage studio condition. Paint remains vivid with strong opacity and texture. Paper sheet exhibits slight edge wear, faint creasing/loss near the bottom left corner, and subtle handling marks along the margins consistent with age and unframed storage. Please review photos closely for any wear, toning, or edge damage as part of the description.
