Painter born on August 1, 1920, in Châteauroux.
Brother of poet and playwright Henri Pichette, French painter associated with the Informel art movement.
In 1942, he began painting figurative works, then went through a Cubist period like most painters of his generation.
In 1947, he exhibited for the first time at the Salon des Surindépendants. That same year, he left for Italy and stayed in Rome for several months. His early career was encouraged by Gino Severini, Alberto Magnelli, and Jacques Villon.
He worked in the studios of Cinecittà, where he produced his first abstract works tinged with surrealism.
In 1950, he exhibited at the 5th Salon des Réalités Nouvelles.
In 1952, he obtained a scholarship and left for the Netherlands, where he became a resident of the Descartes House in Amsterdam and familiarized himself with the works of Pietr Mondrian and Georges Vantongerloo.
In 1952-1953, he exhibited at the Salon d'Automne.
In 1960, he moved to New York, where he met Sam Francis and Calder. He also developed a passion for jazz and befriended some great musicians.
In 1985, he began his "Espace Jazzique" period, a theme that would occupy his painting for a long time.
His career included numerous solo exhibitions in France and abroad.
He died on August 2, 1996, in Paris.
His works are included in the collections of numerous museums in Germany, Belgium, Chile, the United States, China, France, Israel, Mexico, and the Netherlands. This piece has an attribution mark,
