The lion was hand carved in Parasite wood. Fell in love with his sad face and he reminds me so much of the "Cowardly Lion" from the wizard of Oz. So, I got to work setting a natural Rose de France Amethyst in a sterling silver basket setting into his chest. First I carved the flame shapes around the heart. Set his eyes with natural garnets also set first in sterling basket settings. Painted a tiny black pupil to draw the viewer towards him. Then came the silver enamel, brushing him in specific areas. The silver metal and wood box is an antique Indian Jaipur box. It is entirely handmade and the silver has been etched into the metal and very skillfully shaped and nailed in panels into the wood.
