These trays were popular and came about as a resurgence of types of trays made in Europe during a much earlier time in history. This Toleware is hand-painted with oil on thin metal and protected by a thin layer of shellac. This one has reticulated borders and is a large beautiful example. There is minimal rust and smudges and tiny missing paint along edges. A thing of beauty and charm. It is afraid of the water! See less
