Rare collection of four English William IV constabulary truncheons, circa 1830–1837, each handcrafted in turned wood and decorated with the crowned royal cypher of King William IV. Of varying forms with painted black, deep green and brown grounds, gilt and polychrome decoration, turned handles and wrist straps. One inscribed “DOVOR 109” and another identified as “EDMONTON SPECIAL,” denoting their use by local and special constables. A wonderfully decorative group retaining original surface, age-related wear and patina.
