The curved backrest is decorated with a traditional harvest motif featuring a classical urn overflowing with fruit and foliage, surrounded by scrolling botanical ornament. Gold banding and stenciled accents continue throughout the frame, giving the chair its distinctive early American-inspired character.

The gold decoration shows considerable fading and wear throughout, creating a wonderfully timeworn patina. The chair remains well built and sturdy, and the cane seat is in very good condition with no notable breaks or damage.
