It features three hand-stitched panels filled with rhythmic horizontal stripes in a bright pastel spectrum of seafoam green, pink and periwinkle blue, balancing traditional Anatolian hand-weaving with a fresh modern palette.

On the Design:

Among the most celebrated regional flatweaves of Anatolia, mid-century Turkish panel kilims are admired for their spatial ingenuity, vibrant graphic cadence, and deeply authentic folk art heritage. Woven primarily by village women across central and western Turkey, these flatweaves depart from formal urban workshop carpets in favor of spontaneous, highly practical domestic weaving. Because traditional Anatolian village looms were limited in width to fit domestic living quarters, weavers produced long, narrow flatweave strips or parça using handspun wool.

The present example is particularly notable for its rare three-panel construction showcasing an unusually cheerful polychromatic stripe layout in sun-faded pastel hues. Repeated in orderly horizontal bands across the joined sections, seafoam mint green, soft lemon yellow, heathered lavender, powder blue, and blush pink interlock with slender pinstripes of charcoal black and warm cream. The subtle, organic offsets where the hand-loomed panels meet transform these linear bands into a vibrating visual rhythm that feels both rustic and surprisingly modern. The result is a weaving of exceptional personality—one that celebrates Anatolian village craftsmanship while preserving a timeless visual culture.
