Bronze with a Siena yellow marble base. Leonardo da Vinci, the Florentine genius, also ventured into sculpture with the same ambition that characterizes all his works. In Milan, he worked on a monumental project: an equestrian statue dedicated to Francesco Sforza. Between 1482 and 1493, he created an imposing clay model approximately seven meters tall. The project called for a colossal casting, which would have required over 100 metric tons of bronze. But with the arrival of French troops in Milan, the metal was diverted to the production of cannons, and the work was never completed. A precious testament to Leonardo’s dream remains today: the reproduction of the monumental head, which still conveys all the power and ambition of that project. ▸ The sculpture is handcrafted in Italy at our facility by master artisans.
