The dark-stained frames are constructed with continuous rectangular legs and low stretchers, giving the chairs a strong, grounded appearance.

The seats and backrests are upholstered in a grey textured fabric, which softens the strict linearity of the design. Particularly distinctive is the backrest, where the upholstery is framed by visible wooden corner blocks, adding a subtle decorative accent within the otherwise sober composition.

The overall design is calm, functional and well balanced, with a modernist character typical of Belgian furniture from the period. These chairs form part of the same dining room series as the Jean Batenburg dining table produced by MI, Belgium.
