It is a table scaled for a room and its company, built from two materials that warm to each other rather than compete.

Arabescato Vagli is a refined white marble from the Vagli basin in the Apuan Alps, above Carrara. Sweeping grey veins move across its white-to-cream ground in the flowing, arabesque lines that give the stone its name, dramatic without ever tipping into the theatrical. The oak answers in kind: solid European oak smoked to a near-black brown, its grain still legible beneath the finish, so the marble and oak read as two tones of a single warmth. These tops are cut from natural stone, and no two of these Arabescato Vagli marble and oak dining tables are ever quite the same.

Below the top, two solid oak boards are notched and slotted one through the other into a self-supporting cross-leg base. There is no bracket, no metal and no visible fixing, only the join itself doing the structural work.

Quiet and composed, the Arabescato Vagli marble and oak dining table holds a room without demanding it, as at ease at the centre of a dining space as anywhere. The Hakata is an Italian dining table made to order in Cantù, in Lombardy's long-established furniture district, drawn from full-slab stone, solid timber, and premium Italian glass. See less
