It is the most tactile piece in the collection and the one that ages most visibly.

The oak is solid European timber, smoked to a deep, near-black brown with its grain still legible beneath the darker finish. It is the more architectural of the two oak finishes, grounded and quiet. The timber is European oak, dense enough to carry the interlocking construction without reinforcement and open enough in grain to keep its warmth. It takes the marks of use and settles into them rather than resisting them.

The construction is left in plain sight. Two solid oak boards interlock at right angles, one passing through the other into a self-supporting cross-leg base, the joinery treated as the only ornament the piece needs.

Low in its demands and clear in its intent, the smoked oak coffee table sits in front of a sofa without asking for attention. The Minami is an Italian coffee table made to order in Cantù, in Lombardy's long-established furniture district, drawn from full-slab stone, solid timber, and premium Italian glass. See less
