There is nothing applied or ornamental about it, the form pared back so the material carries it.

Roman travertine is the stone of ancient Rome, formed in the mineral springs around Tivoli and used across the Colosseum and the colonnades of St Peter's Square. It carries a soft, creamy beige tone, its delicate linear veining and gently layered structure warmer and more understated than the marbles. Each top is cut from the block it came from, so no two of these Roman travertine coffee tables share the same figure.

The base is the quieter feat. Two slabs of the same stone are notched and set at right angles, one passing through the other, so the piece carries itself with no brackets and no visible fixing. What holds it up is exactly what draws the eye.

The Roman travertine coffee table asks little of a room and gives it a centre, at home in front of a sofa. Like every Lebanto piece, the Ishiki is made to order in Cantù, in the historic heart of Lombardy's furniture district, from a curated material palette of full-slab stone, solid timber, and premium Italian glass.
