An exceptional piece of 1980s postmodern design, this monumental sculptural table lamp was designed by Max Blumberg for Fine Art Handcrafted Lighting.
Striking a perfect balance between ancient antiquity and Memphis-era modernism, the lamp features a heavily textured, ovoid ceramic amphora body finished in a subtle, faux-travertine plaster wash.The ceramic vessel is beautifully cradled within a minimalist architectural iron tripod stand. It is crowned by its iconic, oversized metal "coolie" or UFO-style cone shade, creating a dramatic, geometric silhouette that functions as a piece of fine sculpture even when unlit.
This iconic accent piece perfectly grounds Organic Modern, Brutalist, or Eclectic 20th-century interior styles.

Good Condition, Original Condition Unaltered, Some Imperfections.Condition Notes: The lamp is in excellent vintage structural and working condition. The plaster-textured ceramic body and iron tripod stand are completely sound with no chips, cracks, or structural repairs. The original metal shade retains its excellent exterior finish. The underside of the metal shade features cosmetic surface scuffs and minor age-related marks. These markings are entirely consistent with a 40-year-old original piece and are completely hidden from view when the lamp is upright and assembled.
