A vintage hand carved Japanese wooden apothecary trade or shop sign finished in black and gold lacquer and a red-and-white tomoe (comma-like swirl) crest symbol at the top center, shaped like a lucky mallet symbol (which in traditional Japanese folklore brings wealth and fulfills desires) and with carved Japanese characters advertising pharmaceuticals. The inscription reads: "如勝堂薬房" (Nyoshōdō Pharmacy), "鎮痛液" (Pain Relief Liquid/Analgesic) and "改良製剤" (Improved Formulation). No maker’s mark.
