Wonderful vintage figural fireplace companion/tool set in the form of an English Beefeater or Yeoman Warder. An unusually decorative hearth accessory with a highly detailed cast metal figure wearing traditional Tudor-style dress, ruff collar, hat, Tudor rose decorations and ceremonial insignia.
The figure cleverly serves as the fireplace tool stand. The long removable sword doubles as the fireplace poker, while the set also includes a hearth brush and an especially interesting pair of spring-action fireplace tongs with large talon/claw-shaped gripping ends. The sword/poker fits into the figure’s hand and base for display.
The casting has excellent detail throughout, including the facial features, costume, buckles, rosettes and elaborate architectural decoration surrounding the sword at the top of the staff. The dark bronze/copper-toned finish has attractive old patina and surface wear.
Overall approximately 30” high x 11-1/2” wide x 7” deep.
Estate fresh vintage condition with typical age wear, oxidation, finish variation and patina. The handle on the removable sword/fire poker is somewhat loose and should be tightened or stabilized if desired. The spring-loaded claw/talon tongs operate.
