Pre-Prohibition tin lighted sign advertising Green Seal Beer by The Buckeye Brewing Co. of Toledo, Ohio. Featuring pierced tin lettering originally illuminated from behind, this example represents an early form of electric or backlit advertising display produced when breweries first began experimenting with signage visible both day and night. The embossed lettering and gilded "BEER" text sit against a dark green field, punctuated by the breweries wax seal emblem and radiant red ribbon design.

The Buckeye Brewing Company operated from 1886 until the onset of Prohibition in 1919, producing popular brands like Green Seal and Buckeye Beer. This company changed names several times over the years, including to "The Buckeye Production Company" during prohibition, and then back to "The Buckeye Brewing Company" once prohibition was lifted in 1933. Sadly, the production facilities were demolished in 1974.

This is one of three known examples of this sign. Please see the attached images for evidence of the other two signs known to exist. Item is in excellent condition for a centenarian, and sign lights up well. Sign has two brackets on the top of the sign so it can easily be hung.
