Striking figurative bust attributed to contemporary narrative sculptor Kirsten Stingle, combining a hand-worked ceramic figure with richly textured mixed-media elements and a vintage metal key.
The elongated female figure is modeled with an expressive ivory-toned face, painted features and vivid red lips, contrasted by an extraordinary sculptural headdress and torso worked in layers of deep oxblood, rust, ochre, brown and touches of green. A vintage key suspended at the chest adds another narrative element to the composition.
The work strongly corresponds with Stingle’s distinctive figurative vocabulary and mixed-media practice, including her use of hand-built ceramic figures, expressive facial features, highly worked surfaces and found vintage objects incorporated as storytelling devices. The piece is not visibly signed and is therefore offered as attributed to Kirsten Stingle, rather than as a fully authenticated work.
A compelling piece of contemporary figurative sculpture with tremendous presence despite its relatively compact scale. Particularly striking viewed in the round, with the sculptural headdress and textured surface continuing across the back.

Minor scattered marks and age-related surface wear are present. The intentionally distressed and layered finish includes variations in color and texture throughout. Vintage metal key exhibits an aged patina. Please note that many irregularities visible throughout the ceramic and mixed-media surfaces appear inherent to the artist’s hand-worked aesthetic. less
