There is nothing applied or ornamental about it, the form pared back so the material carries it.

Kenya Black trades the softness of the paler stones for pure drama. A deep, near-total black is broken by pale veining that branches like the grain of ancient wood, and where the slabs are matched the pattern folds back on itself into something almost symmetrical. Each top is cut from the block it came from, so no two of these Kenya Black marble coffee tables share the same figure.

The base is the quieter feat. Two slabs of the same stone are notched and set at right angles, one passing through the other, so the piece carries itself with no brackets and no visible fixing. What holds it up is exactly what draws the eye.
