Description:
Presenting a magnificent and highly decorative vintage Chinese hardwood stool. Crafted from dense, richly grained Huali Rosewood with a beautiful, warm reddish-brown patina, this stool features a classic hexagonal form with six elegant cabriole legs connected by hexagonal stretchers.
The most striking feature is the exquisite Mother-of-Pearl inlay adorning the flat seat surface. It depicts a charming "Fish Swimming Among Lotus" (鱼戏莲叶间) scene, symbolizing abundance and harmony. The two koi fish are rendered using vibrant, iridescent abalone shell with pink hues, catching the light beautifully. The apron is carved with classic ruyi cloud motifs. The stool is built using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery.
Condition: Excellent condition. The wood is solid and sturdy with a beautiful natural patina. All mother-of-pearl inlays are present and secure. The stool is stable and sturdy. Minor surface wear consistent with age and use. No structural damage. Please refer to all photos for exact condition.
