A distinctive mid-century nautical tray by SeaCraft, featuring a solid genuine-mahogany surround, twisted rope border and brass-toned cleat handles. A detailed nautical chart of Stamford Harbor and the Connecticut shoreline of Long Island Sound fills the recessed center, combining pale blue waterways, fine black cartography and an aged ivory ground.
The chart depicts Shippan Point, Westcott Cove, Long Neck Point and the Darien River, with depth soundings, navigational lights and harbor channels. Its compass diagram includes a 1950 magnetic-variation reference; the tray’s estimated circa-1950s–early-1960s date remains approximate.
The underside retains the SeaCraft stamp and an original Mahogany Association, Inc. label certifying that all exposed wooden parts are solid genuine mahogany.
Warm wood, rope detailing and maritime hardware give the piece the character of a vintage yacht-club accessory. An appealing accent for a coffee table, bar cart or coastal library, it pairs beautifully with brass objects, decanters and collected books.
Pronounced chart staining, surface wear and localized rope fraying contribute to its visibly aged appearance. The chart has a clear-coated finish rather than glass; avoid prolonged moisture exposure.

The tray remains structurally intact, and the mahogany … moreCONDITION NOTES Good vintage condition with pronounced age-related wear and surface character. The tray remains structurally intact, and the mahogany surround, mounted chart field and two brass-toned handles appear securely assembled. The nautical chart displays extensive irregular brown staining, tide-mark-like discoloration, generalized toning, scattered spotting and smaller surface marks. The most prominent staining extends through the open-water areas and across the compass diagram. These changes are clearly visible and constitute a significant part of the tray’s present appearance. The clear surface finish over the chart displays scratches, rubbing, unevenness and general wear consistent with age and use. No glass is present. No obvious major lifting, large structural loss or separation of the chart field was observed in the supplied photographs. The mahogany surround displays numerous scratches, scuffs, small abrasions, finish loss, paint-like specks and localized discoloration. Wear is particularly visible along the raised edges, corners and areas surrounding the handles. The wooden structure remains visually substantial. The rope perimeter shows darkening, surface wear, loose fibers and localized fraying. One corner has a more noticeable area of unraveling and material loss. The small fasteners securing the rope remain visible around the perimeter. The brass-toned cleat handles display tarnish, oxidation, scratches, rubbing and uneven finish coloration. Both handles remain attached. The underside displays scratches, scuffs, stains, small paint marks and generalized surface wear. The Mahogany Association label remains substantially intact and legible, with rubbing, discoloration and a small area of surface loss. The SeaCraft stamp is faded but identifiable. The tray is offered as a decorative vintage object and has not been evaluated or certified for direct food contact. Because the chart field is clear-coated rather than covered by removable glass, prolonged contact with moisture should be avoided.
