Known for her stylized, high-texture impasto technique, Newell beautifully captures retro coastal Americana in this cohesive set. The first painting features a rustic bayou stilt shack labeled "Mean Mike's Ice, Bait, Beer," complete with stylized seagulls and a glowing full moon. The second painting features a minimalist composition of twin shrimp trawlers anchored with nets up. Both pieces showcase her signature heavy palette knife work, restricted earthy ochre palettes, and blocky cursive "Newell" signatures. The backs of the canvases retain excellent provenance, featuring the artist's original Spring, Texas studio business cards, alongside her unique, personal "Jesus Is Your Answer!" ink stamp on the wooden stretcher bars.
