At 258 cm it is unusually long, and that length is the point: it reads as one continuous horizontal line along a wall.

Four sliding doors and a bank of drawers, all in solid elm with the grain running openly across the fronts. The top is a single uninterrupted plane, deep enough and solid enough to sit on - which is exactly how it is often used. It works as a media unit, as a low sideboard, or as a bench in an entrance hall.

The joinery is the tell: heavy uprights, pegged construction, no veneer anywhere. It was built to stay.

In superb overall condition, with the warm honey tone elm develops with age.
