The lamp features an elongated conical metal shade finished in a deep, muted red, set against a contrasting black angular base. Its gently curved metal stem gives the lamp an elegant, dynamic profile, while an adjustable joint allows the shade to be tilted and the light directed as required. A particularly characteristic detail is the continuous row of narrow perforations around the lower edge of the shade. When illuminated, these openings form a decorative band of light while the open cone provides focused illumination below. A circular opening at the narrow end of the shade creates an additional subtle point of light. The combination of the dramatically tapered shade, curved support and sharply articulated base gives the lamp a strong sculptural silhouette typical of progressive 1950s design. The restrained construction is enlivened by the warm red finish and contrasting dark metalwork, resulting in an appealing example of swedish post-war modernism.
