The design follows a clear vertical rhythm, with narrow, carved side doors framing the wider mirrored door, while the stepped base with three drawers visually balances the height and lends the structure a calm stability. Historical Context: In the first half of the 20th century, the multi-door wardrobe was the central storage piece in the bedroom, as built-in wardrobes were still uncommon in houses and apartments of that time. It was usually purchased as part of a bedroom set, along with a bed, bedside tables, and dressing table, and stood against the main wall as the largest piece of furniture in the room. The central mirrored door served as a dressing mirror, replacing a separate freestanding unit. During the 1920s and 1930s, furniture workshops and early mass-produced furniture manufacturers manufactured such wardrobes in oak in large numbers. The ornamentation was reduced to a few carved zones, while the surface, edges, and baseboard formed the basis of the design. Features: The mirror of the central door is beveled all around, the edge clearly visible at the corner. The interior is divided into two sections: behind the left and center doors is a continuous hanging area with a clothes rail, and behind the right door is a narrow chamber with four shelves. Design: The design is characteristic of the Art Deco style of the late 1920s and 1930s. Stylized floral and leaf motifs in low relief are characteristic, limited to two opposing zones on the door panels and the curved top. The door panels are further framed with vertical grooves, and the baseboards feature fine fluting. The stepped, projecting base and the strongly profiled top panel create horizontal breaks against which the slender door axes stand. The fittings are elongated and geometrically shaped, integrating seamlessly into the overall linear order. Dimensions: Height 209 cm × Width 142 cm × Depth 54 cm. Material and condition: Oak, metal handles and door fittings, beveled mirror glass. In age-appropriate condition with a subtle patina and visible signs of wear. An age-related drying crack runs through the profiled strip above the mirror, extending beyond the carved area. The drawer interiors show older discoloration and signs of wear; the drawer bottoms are complete. A clothes rail is included. The wardrobe has been inspected and cleaned by a castle inspector. The decorations shown in the photos are not included. See less
