Jean Gregorieff, a painter and ceramicist contemporary of Pablo Picasso, created this iconic piece of French Brutalist and Modernist design from that era.

Documented in the Roche Bobois catalog.
The tabletop incorporates two large inset panels made of glazed lava stone tiles. A geometric checkerboard pattern is combined with relief engravings inspired by minerals and sunlight (rosettes, fossils). Warm shades of ochre, mustard yellow, sienna, brown, and crackled white create a textured finish.
The square-section frame and legs are made of brushed/chromed steel, ensuring excellent stability and a distinctly 1970s style.
Due to the density of the lava stone and its solid steel structure, this is an extremely heavy table, a testament to its high-quality craftsmanship. Two people are recommended for carrying. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
