Trained as an architect in Tokyo, Takahama met Dino Gavina at the Milan Triennale and went on to design several seating series for the company; the Rennie, with its tall rectangular backrest and glossy lacquered wood frame, is among the most architectural of these, and is documented in period design literature as part of Simon Gavina's catalog.

This example retains its original ribbed corduroy upholstery in a warm rust, on the tall rectangular backrest and the wide seat.
