A Model 172 pendant designed by Poul Christiansen for Le Klint, Denmark.
The Model 172 is one of Le Klint's most recognisable pendant designs and an important example of Christiansen's innovative approach to the company's traditional pleated shades.
Christiansen joined Le Klint's design history in the late 1960s and developed a new approach to folding the company's plastic shades using mathematical curves rather than conventional straight pleats. His experiments resulted in sculptural shades with flowing, organic forms, most famously the SinusLine series.
The Model 172 was designed in 1971 and subsequently produced in a wide range of sizes. The versatility of the series allowed it to be used in settings ranging from domestic dining and kitchen areas to offices, conference rooms and larger public interiors.
This example measures 31 cm high and 33 cm in diameter, making it a versatile size for use above a dining table, side table or within a smaller interior.
The shade retains its original Le Klint bulb socket and suspension hanger, together with the Le Klint name embossed into the shade, providing a clear indication of its original manufacture.

Very good vintage condition. The shade has a couple of minor folds/creases consistent with its age and previous use. These are minor and do not affect the functionality of the pendant.
