Inspired by Marcel Breuer’s iconic Bauhaus cantilever design, the chairs combine natural woven cane seats and backs with warm bentwood frames and armrests supported by tubular chrome cantilever bases. The combination gives the set a particularly warm, architectural quality while retaining the lightness associated with the classic Cesca form.

Two of the four chairs retain their original “MADE IN ITALY” labels. The specific manufacturer has not been identified, and the chairs are therefore being offered as vintage Italian examples in the Cesca/B64 style rather than attributed to a particular maker.

The four chairs have remained together as a matching set for decades. I acquired them from their longtime owner in New Jersey, who wanted them to go to a home where they would continue to be appreciated.

They present beautifully overall, with the character and patina expected from approximately 50-year-old furniture. The wood has a rich warm tone, the chrome remains attractive, and the original woven cane is largely well preserved.

Three chairs are particularly well preserved. One chair has a localized area of broken/loose cane strands to the seat, shown clearly in the photographs. It has intentionally been left in its original condition rather than re-caned, allowing the next owner to preserve or professionally restore it according to preference.

Sold only as a complete set of four.
