Bring a touch of classic 18th-century natural history to your gallery wall or shelf display with this authentic hand-colored copperplate engraving. Titled "The Knight-Fish" (Plate 525), this piece originates from the renowned multi-volume series The Naturalist’s Miscellany, published in London c. 1790s–1800 by zoologist George Shaw and illustrator/engraver Frederick Polydore Nodder.
The print features vivid, original hand-coloring detailing the striking striped pattern and high dorsal fin of the fish. As an added historical feature, the original accompanying descriptive text page printed in English and Latin is mounted on the reverse. Housed in a casual-chic, whitewashed wood frame with a sawtooth hanger ready for display.
