Description:
Presenting a magnificent and highly decorative vintage Chinese hardwood stool. Crafted from dense, richly grained Huali Rosewood with a beautiful, warm reddish-brown patina, this stool features a classic rectangular form with round, tapering legs connected by traditional stretchers.
The most striking feature is the exquisite Mother-of-Pearl inlay adorning the flat seat surface. It depicts a charming "Magpie on a Plum Branch" (喜上眉梢) scene, symbolizing good news and happiness. The birds' feathers and flower petals are rendered using vibrant, iridescent abalone shell, catching the light with colorful hues. The seat is bordered with delicate, continuous inlaid floral scrolls. The stool is built using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery.
Condition: Excellent condition. The wood is solid and sturdy with a beautiful natural patina. All mother-of-pearl inlays are present and secure. The stool is stable and sturdy. Minor surface wear consistent with age and use. No structural damage. Please refer to all photos for exact condition.
