Presenting a magnificent and highly decorative vintage Chinese hardwood table (or display stand). Crafted from dense, richly grained Huali Rosewood with a beautiful, warm reddish-brown patina, this piece features a flat top resting on a deeply carved, openwork base.
The most striking feature is the exquisite Mother-of-Pearl inlay adorning the flat top surface. It depicts a charming "Magpie on a Plum Branch" (喜上眉梢) scene, symbolizing good news and happiness. The birds' feathers are rendered using vibrant, iridescent abalone shell, catching the light with colorful hues. The sides of the base are intricately carved with delicate openwork scrolling vines and foliage, demonstrating superb craftsmanship.
Condition: Excellent condition. The wood is solid and sturdy with a beautiful natural patina. All mother-of-pearl inlays are present and secure. The delicate openwork carvings are fully intact.
