Description:
Presenting a magnificent and highly decorative vintage Chinese hardwood tea tray. Crafted from dense, richly grained Huali Rosewood with a beautiful, warm reddish-brown patina, this tray features a classic rectangular form with two carved side handles.
The flat bottom surface is exquisitely inlaid with shimmering Mother-of-Pearl depicting a charming "Magpie on a Plum Branch" (喜上眉梢) scene, symbolizing good news and happiness. The birds' feathers are rendered using iridescent abalone shell, catching the light with vibrant colors. The perimeter of the tray is decorated with intricate carved cloud-scroll motifs and white pearl dots. The tray is constructed using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery.
Condition: Excellent condition. The wood is solid with a beautiful natural patina. All mother-of-pearl inlays are present and secure. Minor surface wear consistent with age and use. No structural damage. Please refer to all photos for exact condition.
