The artist constructs the figure using bold, heavy black contour lines and geometric planes, drawing strong aesthetic connections to Cubism, Expressionism, and post-war figurative modernism (in the vein of Pablo Picasso and Willem de Kooning). A vibrant palette of magenta pink, golden ochre, teal blue, violet, and deep black provides exceptional visual contrast. A striking cubist figure study suited to a collector of mid-century modernist drawing. Executed on thin, fine-textured paper, possibly a Japan or mulberry-fiber paper, which shows the design faintly from the reverse; despite its thinness this type of paper is typically quite strong and tear-resistant.
