The work reflects the artist’s … Read more An original 1999 oil-on-canvas painting by Ukrainian artist Anatolii Kozelskyi, also known as Anatolii Kozelsky. The work reflects the artist’s distinctive surrealist, satirical, and allegorical approach to figurative painting. Kozelskyi studied at the Vyzhnytsia College of Applied Arts and has exhibited internationally, including solo exhibitions in New York.

This narrative composition presents a witty allegory of wealth, study, and transformation. A figure in a scholar’s mortarboard cap meticulously counts silver coins at a desk alongside an abacus and cracked golden eggshells. Beside him, a crested bird rests on a barrel, while a blue chute guides eggs toward the table in a whimsical, factory-like scene of alchemy and accumulation.

Provenance: Personally acquired directly from the artist by the present seller in 1999 and retained in the seller’s personal collection since acquisition.

Kozelskyi’s work has been exhibited internationally and has been offered through Sable Gallery in Brooklyn, New York. His work is represented in private collections internationally.
