curt ziegra (september 20, 1878, düsseldorf – november 14, 1946, tegernsee):
painter, draftsman, illustrator; son of the artist and photographer max ziegra (december 21, 1852, dresden – [before 1947]) and his wife veronika; studied at the art academies in berlin, dresden, and weimar; 1906 participation in the "third exhibition of the german artists' association" (weimar); july 1907 participation in the weimar art exhibition of young weimar artists (grand ducal museum); december 1907 participation in the christmas exhibition of weimar artists (grand ducal museum); illustrations for publications including "licht und schatten (wochenschrift für schwarzweisskunst und dichtung)" and "jugend"; military service in the first world war (including in the infanterie-lieb-regiment (munich), 1st reserve battalion, sometimes working as a regimental artist); 1916 participation in the "war pictures exhibition of the royal academy of arts" (berlin); around 1917 the publication "erinnerungs-postkarten des k. B. Inf.-leib-reyts. Nach originalen von kurt ziegra" appeared (published by dr. C. Wolf & sohn, munich); active especially in/around partenkirchen; ziegra probably lived in hamburg from the 1930s onwards; 1938 expulsion from the reich chamber of culture; from 1938 he was able to hide with hugo and grethe stoltzenberg in their villa in othmarschen; around 1940 he is documented as living in hamburg-blankenese (caprivistraße 28); he later moved back to bavaria and lived in gauting (pippinstraße 19); he died on november 14, 1946, in a hospital in tegernsee from heart and circulatory failure; his work primarily consisted of landscape paintings of southern germany (bavaria).

curt ziegra was married to anne elisabeth (also: anne lise), née schaefer, formerly kösters (1885-?), who ran a girls' home in partenkirchen (maxstadtstraße 4).
