Antonio Citterio designed it for Vitra, and he himself spoke of the responsibility it meant to create a new armchair for the company after a masterpiece like the Eames Lounge Chair. The result is a modern interpretation of the classic wingback chair: a high backrest with wide, flared sides, broad armrests, and a backrest ergonomically shaped to support the lumbar region. The gray fabric with its light decorative stitching accentuates this contour rather than concealing it. The real highlight is hidden within the upholstery: a synchronous mechanism that allows the angles of the seat and backrest to adjust together and lock into any position. You glide effortlessly from a reading position to a reclining position and can hold any intermediate position securely—you manually adjust the mechanism's resistance to your body weight. The chair is supported by a four-star base made of die-cast aluminum, on which it can swivel freely. The ottoman perfectly complements the upholstery, seams, and base, completing the resting position.
